From the very beginning, The Ruby Fruit has always been fueled by passion, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to creating a safe, welcoming gathering place. As founders, we (Mara and Emily) have poured our hearts into building something meaningful for the Sapphic community, even when the odds were against us. On January 11, we announced a temporary closure—running a small business without outside investors was already challenging, but the financial toll of the LA wildfires made it nearly impossible.

The response to our announcement was overwhelming, with so many of you reaching out to ask how you could help. It proved to us what we already know; that in times like these we need spaces like The Ruby Fruit now more than ever.

While we take some much-needed time to pause, reflect, and re-group, we’ve partnered with our friend Coco’s To Go-Go to prepare meals for those who’ve been affected by the wildfires.
